Southern Indiana Career
& Technical Center
Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation and many local businesses saw a critical need for a technical high school that could serve double duty by educating high school students and local businesses in a collaborative educational environment. Resulting from a public 42-person Planning and Design Task Force, the new Southern Indiana Career and Technical Center educates Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation’s high school students who seek a focused technical education in preparation for employment within local industries. In addition, the Technical Center can be used by local businesses and offers adult continuing education courses.A major design consideration for this facility was to provide ample flexible space that serves a wide variety of uses, and able to accommodate high school students and local businesses who need lab or classroom space and a continuing education curriculum. Two 1,000 square foot flex-labs are openly configured, wired for distance learning, connected to air, water and power to facilitate multi-disciplined groups and scientific study over a broad range of disciplines. Through a collaborative effort, Southern Indiana now has a state-of-the-art technical center that serves a wide variety of uses.
